While Blanca tracks NNE across the Midwest over the next few days providing showers and storms over the heartland, this system will act like a heat pump, boosting heights to it’s east and driving the warmest air of the year through the South and East of the country.
Upper heights rise to 588dm over the East late week according to the GFS.

Really from Texas all the way to New York, most places in between should experience low to possibly mid 90s each afternoon with some spots over the southern Gulf Coast and coastal plains of the Carolinas pushing 100.
Showers and storms can’t be ruled out in the South and East where heat will be strongest. Enough energy courtesy of Blanca, is likely to trigger storms further east, helped by strong surface heating.
Here’s a look at the GFS surface today through the weekend.

As for the CFSv2, well it’s showing a drier South into July and August. Staying cool for the majority of the country with the exceptions of the West, a touch warmer than normal on the Eastern coastal plain.
