This pattern is an interesting one worth watching as severe weather season ramps up in the Plains, a surge of summer progresses into the East while potential tropical trouble lurks off the Carolinas next week.

Here comes that ridge into the Northeast day 5-10 as the trough pushes into the Southwest.

So, while there’s storminess and flooding rains in the Plains, it’s warming up on the East Coast while tropical trouble brews off the coast…

Both GFS and ECMWF see the stormy, wet Plains, warm East and system deepening off the SE coast.
