Very Settled & Turning Warmer This Upcoming Easter Holiday Week, 1st 20s Possible!

If your off on holiday this week, your in luck! A very decent Easter Sunday for most today with exceptions of some North Sea coasts where low cloud and a cool onshore breeze may make it somewhat disappointing but for most, it’s a mix of sun and cloud. Where sunshine lingers through this afternoon, you could see 15C and locally, 17C.

Easter Monday is a repeat of today and really throughout the rest of this upcoming week, there’s little in the way of rain. Cloud, mist and fog will flex back and forth between day and night but this is a very settled pattern.

The below GFS surface charts show the high building in and then sliding off to our ESE through the second half of the week, this will help provide sunnier skies and WARMER temps as our flow becomes southerly.

Notice a low pressure system tries to bring in more appreciable rain and wind too by Friday but into next weekend, the high is right back, positioned to our SE and may well bring our first 20/21C reading of the year!

GFS ensemble 5-day mean 500mb height anomalies below show this strong positive building right over the UK and then slides east through days 10-15. I suspect a fight between Atlantic and continental high pressure which could see warm surges ahead of wind and rain bearing frontal boundaries. I did state prior to April’s commencement that we may be talking warm weather before mid-April.
