A lot of rain through the next 10 days across the Southern Tier.

The reason for the increase in southern rains is simple. An active southern branch jet stream tracks further south and thus able to tug on sub-tropical fuel that’s now naturally building and lifting north. There’s also the clash of southbound arctic air with warm, humid air lifting north.
The warmer than normal Gulf of Mexico will inject some enhancement also, likely increasing moisture within naturally warming air above.

ECMWF shows the increase in moisture over the next 5 days.




As well as the moisture increase, note the low thicknesses associated with the troughs dropping into the Northeast.

There will be some impressive cold to follow this… Could see a day or so below freezing in NYC, maybe Philly with low in the teens which is impressive for late March!
