US Medium Range: Wild/Transient Pattern Continues Into June

Written by on May 10, 2014 in United States of America with 0 Comments

We have a wild ride early next week with Denver shooting towards 70 Saturday but by Monday and Tuesday, probably won’t get out of the mid-30s. A lot in between could go into the teens, especially if there’s snow on the ground, the question is how much?

Here’s the latest GFS meteogram for Denver through the next 8 days. Note the wild temperature ride with big drop Monday off the Saturday high near 70. Precip falls as SNOW then a bounce back to 70 as early as Wednesday!

Latest snow projection off ECMWF. Looks like it has a foot in Denver, wow!

In contrast to the Denver free fall, NYC heats up big time. (ignore the rise to low 70s, too low… it’s heading WELL into the 80s!)

Philly’s meteogram better reflects the situation. Think even this may be underdone, 90 is within reach. Note the free fall through the second half of next week… it sees the Rockies chill coming.

CFSv2 shows the chill diving into the Rockies late weekend into early next week, dominating week 2 from the Plains east. Note the major warmth ahead of it though, focused on the Northeast.

Week 3 and 4 shows the heat coming back into the Midwest again.
