Moderate to heavy snow is now pushing into metro DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York at this hour and with temps holding or falling, accumulation is expected to be steady through today. As stated in last night’s post, a solid 3-6 inches is expected through DC, 4-8 through Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York, possibly 8-12 through Hartford, Providence and Boston.

Latest radar now indicates that it’s snowing in Metro DC with accumulation already being reported just west and north of the city. This will most definitely be DC’s biggest snow event in 2-4 years.

The snow is breaking out faster than what the models had and with the low set to feedback and ‘bomb out’ off the VA Capes, expect snow rates and northeast winds to INCREASE later today.

Winds will blow hard along the coast. 35-45kt onshore winds expected later today along the Mid-Atlantic coast, then possibly 45 to 55kts along Long Island and New England coast tomorrow as low pulls away.

Highs will be COLD tomorrow, barely getting above 10 I think for much of the daylight hours in the Big Cities.
Amazingly, the GFS keeps Philly, NYC and Boston below 10F tomorrow afternoon, DC below 15!
