Scotland

Today has been by far the coldest day since last spring with temperatures struggling to get much above 5 or 6C, only 3C in parts of the Highlands. The showers rattling into Western areas will continue this evening and overnight while the sunnier East turns clear and cold but the breeze making it to the East coast should keep temperatures a touch up on last night. Lows range from 2 or 3C in the cloudier, windier West to -3C in sheltered Eastern areas, perhaps -6 or -7C threatens Grampian Glens where winds are lightest.

More sun, showers and a cold wind tomorrow in the West while it’s another day with more sunshine in the East. Highs stay subpar at 5-8C.

Thursday will see winds along with the rain increase from the southwest as low pressure nears.

England

It’s been a cool mixed day with cloud, some sunshine and a few showers dotting the landscape and winds have been freshening from the west. Tonight will see a system spread wind, rain and milder air across the bulk of Southern England up into the Midlands with dawn temperatures reaching 15C over the Southwest. Expect a wet commute tomorrow morning from Bristol up to Birmingham and down to London. Clearer and colder further North. Lows overnight -2C in Northumberland to 13C in Devon.

Wednesday looks rather wet, windy but milder across the South up into the Midlands with highs of 12-14, locally 15 or 16C in the Southwest with a brisk SW wind. Much cooler in the North with hefty showers driven in on a stiff west wind and feeling chilly with highs of 5-8C.

Thursday looks better with the Southern rain band clearing south and it’s a largely dry day with a few showers dotted around.

Wales

After a wet, windy morning, it’s been somewhat of a better afternoon though the wind and showers continue into this evening before another band of rain spreads in through the overnight. Lows tonight 4-8C.

Wednesday looks rather dreary with plenty of persistent rain around, some of that could be heavy and winds will be fresh for all, strong along the coast. Highs 9-11C.

Thursday will be back to a sunshine and shower regime, remaining cool.

Northern Ireland

The sunshine and showers regime is firmly locked into the NI weather pattern today through the next few. Tonight will continue to see the west wind, keeping the temperature from hitting freezing, so no frost despite a mix of cloud and clear spells overnight. Lows 2-5C.

Wednesday like today will see more sunshine and showers, feeling cool in the wind. Highs 7-9C.

More of the same for Thursday.

Ireland

After a day of sunshine and showers and a cool west wind, tonight will see another plume of organised rain spread across the South up into the Midlands through the night. This rain will be accompanied by both windier conditions as much milder air. Lows 2 or 3C in the North while it rises through the night further South, perhaps lifting to 14C by dawn Wednesday.

The rain band is slow to clear across the South while it’s more sunshine and showers the further north you go. Highs tomorrow 8C in the North, closer to 13 or 14C in the South.

It’s a much better day to come Thursday with drier, brighter conditions.
