WED 11 SEP: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

Scotland

It’s been a wet morning and afternoon across the country with the rains initially affecting the North but through the day the rain band has worked south and at times, produced heavy bursts. That rain band is now pushing through the South and is soon to clear, leaving behind a legacy of cloud and eventually some mist and fog through the overnight. Some clear spells will develop in the Highlands, setting the stage for a chilly night with a touch of frost. For most it stays mild at 10 to 12C.

Thursday starts dry with mist, fog and low cloud but it brightens up briefly before another rain band spreads in from the Atlantic and this should affect much of the country by lunch time. Winds will be fresh out of the south and feeling slightly muggier. Highs 16-20C.

A decent looking day Friday with bright spells, feeling fresher.

England

It’s a wet end to the day across much of central and southern England with the front bringing somewhat more organised or persistent rain from the Humber down towards Plymouth, more light and patchy to the north over Greater Manchester and to the south towards London. Dry in the far North.

Through this evening and overnight, the rain band clear into the Channel and there will be considerable cloud left around with light drizzle, mist and fog widely. A damp dreary, murky night to come with lows of 9-13C.

Thursday starts cloudy, misty and murky but as the morning progresses, look for cloud to thin and break and sunshine to appear, especially in central and eastern areas. Highs of 16-20C. In the far west, rain pushes in from the Irish Sea in association with the next front.

Rains spreads southeast across the country late Thursday through Friday morning, clearing most areas by the afternoon but lingering across the far south.

Wales

It’s a dull, damp and cloudy end to Wednesday across much of Wales with late brightness possible in the North but into the overnight period and the rain clears to the south but a legacy of drizzle, heavy cloud and some light and patchy mist and fog may form. Lows dip no lower than 9 or 10C for most.

Thursday starts dull, misty and murky but it won’t take long before more rain spreads across the country through the morning and this rain, although not particularly heavy, will take much of the afternoon to clear and may linger into the evening. Within this rain there may be a few heavier pulses. Highs 15-18C.

Friday looks much better although rain may linger along the south coast for a time.

Northern Ireland

It’s an improving end to the day after a wet start with some brightness appearing. Through the overnight and it’s a cloudy, misty and foggy night to come with lows dipping to between 8-12C.

Thursday unsurprisingly starts cloudy, misty and murky and through the morning, cloud thickens from the west with another band of rain filling in across the country through the morning. Most under by early afternoon will be beneath a heavy cloud deck with light to moderate rain. Highs 16-18C with a fresher southerly wind.

Friday looks much better with sunshine returning but feeling a lot fresher.

Ireland

It’s a better end to the day across northern parts compared to this morning, but it’s a damp end to the day in the south and this rain should persist through much of the night, albeit light and patchy. Mist and fog develops over the Midlands and North. Lows 8-12C.

Thursday is an improving picture in the south but this improvement will be short lived as another front sweeps in immediately behind the last front and so it’s another damp, dreary day across most areas. Highs 15-19C.

A much better day to come Friday but rain may linger in the south. Feeling fresher.
