TUE 10 SEP: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

Written by on September 10, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

Fine, dry and bright evening to come across much of Scotland with the exceptions of the North where it’s cloudy with an odd shower or two. Rain will gather in the Northwest and push south with a freshening southwest wind as the front drops south overnight. Lows of 8-11C.

Wednesday dawns wet but through the late morning and afternoon, the rain clears to the southeast and bright or sunny spells should develop once again, particularly in central areas. Highs of 15-18C.

Rain spreads in from the west Thursday bringing a wet and breezy afternoon.

England

It’s been a raw day down the East coast of England with strong, even gale-force winds with quite persistent rain too while further west and it’s sunnier, less windy and somewhat warmer at 17-20C.

Through tonight and the rain and wind eases from the Yorkshire to Kent coast and it turns clear. With lighter winds it will be cool out in rural areas with mist and fog forming. Expect lows to dip to 4 or 5C in sheltered spots while most towns and cities hold at 10-12C.

Wednesday dawns with thickening cloud and rain pushing down from Scotland. This weakening front will cloud skies over across the Midlands and here it looks like a rather dreary day with light and ptahcy rain. The best of the sunshine will be found over the South where highs may reach 19 or 20C, nearer 15 or 16C in the cloud and rain.

Another front drops south during Thursday and this may bring a spell of heavier rain to much of the country along with stronger winds.

Wales

It’s a decent end to Tuesday across the country and a fine start the night but change arrives through the second half of the overnight period as rains spreads south  and winds pick up from the southwest as the front approaches. Overnight lows shall dip to between 8-12C.

So, not surprisingly, Wednesday starts off dull and wet with some persistent rain for a time but this should clear through the afternoon leaving potentially a dry, even bright end to the day. Highs 15-17C.

More rain arrives Thursday with freshening southwest winds again.

Northern Ireland

It’s a decent end to Tuesday across Ulster with plenty of bright or sunny weather which should feel very pleasant. It’s a largely quiet start to the overnight period but cloud thickens from north to south and by dawn, rain will be working south in association of a front. That front should push through fairly quickly and after a wet morning, bright or sunny spells should return for the afternoon. Highs similar to today at between 15-17C.

More rain spreads across the country Thursday.

Ireland

It’s been a fine, dry and bright afternoon across the bulk of Ireland with somewhat cloudier skies in the west, sunniest conditions in the east. It’s a largely quiet night to come with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Overnight lows range from 7C in beneath the clearest skies to 10 or 12C.

A weakening from will spread cloud and light rain across Ireland during Wednesday but bright skies should prevail in the North and then central areas through the afternoon. By the time the front reaches Cork and the Southeast, there should be little rain. Highs 15-18C.

Another band of rain sweeps southeast across the country Thursday and once again we should see decent sunshine on the backside.
