FRI 14 JUNE: UK & IRELAND WEEKEND FORECAST

Written by on June 14, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

This afternoon looks rather showery right across the country with clumps of somewhat heavier and more persistent rain in areas (esp over hills), in between those showers some glimmers of brightness should appear here and there. Winds will be fresh to strong in the W and NW. Highs today will be near normal for June 14 at 16-18C.

Into tonight and another pulse of heavier and more persistent rain will push up from the North Channel and will make for a wet and increasingly windy night to come. That band of rain be spread east throughout the night, clearing the East Coast by morning. It stays mild thanks to all the rain at 9-12C.

Saturday, like today remains unsettled with heavy showers following in the wake of the overnight rain band, so after a wet or very wet start, we may see some glimmers of brightness here and there but overall, it’s mainly cloudy and breezy with heavy, frequent showers. Highs of 14-17C.

On Sunday it looks like Scotland will see far fewer showers with drier and possibly brighter weather. Temperatures should be a touch warmer than today and tomorrow at 17-19C.

More wet and breezy conditions push in for Monday.

England

It’s a cool, showery start to the afternoon across England, especially in the West and North where showers are most frequent, heavy and accompanied by a stiff southerly breeze with downright windy conditions along the coast. Furthern East and South and it’s a breezy but bright or sunny afternoon with few showers and it’s here that we’re seeing the best of the temperatures. 18 to 19C.

Through this evening and overnight, another rain band will push in from the Irish Sea and this will bring a spell of heavy rain and strong winds for all. This rain should clear the East Coast by 9am but heavy showers follow in the wake of the front. Lows stay mild at 10-13C.

Saturday will be very similar to today with the heavier and most frequent showers always in the North and West but after a showery morning through the Midlands, South and Southeast, it should be an improving story here with highs pushing 17-19C. It will remain breezy for all.

A lot of uncertainty over Sunday as another low is seen pushing towards the Southwest and this may drive an area of heavy rain into Southern England during the day. Some models keep it to the south altogether though. Highs of 15-18C.

Further rain and breezy conditions looks to move in during Monday.

Wales

It’s a blustery, showery afternoon throughout Wales with strong to even gale-force southerly winds along the coasts. These hefty, thundery showers should ease during the late afternoon but another front arrives tonight bringing another spell of heavy, persistent rain for all with winds increasing out of the south again. These winds could cause fully leaved tree branches to come down as gusts push 30-40 mph in exposed inland parts, stronger along the coast with an odd 60 mph gust. Lows stay mild tonight at 10-13C.

After the rain band clears later in the night, Saturday looks showery with an improving picture in the South with bright or sunny spells appearing through the afternoon. Always remaining showery and blustery in the North and West. Highs of 14-17C.

Sunday should be a better day for Mid and North Wales with fewer showers and less wind. Another band of rain is seen to push into South Wales during the day though there’s a lot of uncertainty over this. Highs of 15-18C.

More wet and breezy weather looks to be on the way for Monday.

Northern Ireland

Conditions will go downhill through this afternoon as yet another band of heavy, persistent rain pushes in from the Republic, covering most areas by mid afternoon. This persistent rain along with a freshening southerly wind will make for a tricky evening commute. Expect unusually strong, gale-force gusts of 50 mph along the Down and Antrim coast. These rains along with the strong wind will continue through much of the evening before clearing overnight. Highs today will push 15-16C while lows dip tonight to a cooler 6-8C.

Saturday looks reasonably dry to start with perhaps an odd shower here and there but into the afternoon, another batch of rain will push across much of the country, particularly central and Eastern areas with the best of the brightness in the North. Highs of 15-17C.

Sunday is looking drier with possibly some sunny spells to be had. Highs of 15-17C.

More rain and showers to come Monday.

Ireland

It’s a downright wet and windy afternoon across the country with the heaviest of the rain along with strongest southerly winds over central and Eastern areas this afternoon into this evening with gales along the coast. The heavy rain eventually clears by mid to late evening and the rain band pushes out into the Irish Sea with showers following in behind. Lows tonight drop to 8-11C.

Saturday starts relatively dry with possibly brightness for some but another wave of rain spreads north during the morning and into the afternoon but this too clears later in the day. Highs of 15-18C.

Sunday will see the drier and perhaps brightest weather in central and Northern areas, however a deepening low well south of Ireland looks to push yet another band of rain into the South of the country during the day. Lots of uncertainly still over this.

Monday looks to see more showers and longer spells of rain move in.
