Scotland
After a damp, cloudy start to the day, brighter skies are appearing over most areas this afternoon and with that sunshine, temperatures are responding nicely to between 16-18C, locally 20 or 21C along the sheltered Moray Coast.
Through tonight and another band of rain will push into Southern areas, perhaps edging into the Central Belt. Clearer skies over the Highlands where lows may dip to nearer 2-4C, elsewhere 9-11C.
Thursday is looking very similar to today with sunshine returning late morning into the afternoon over most areas following a damp start. Highs a little cooler than today at 15-18C.
Friday will see more rain along with increasing wind.
England
After a half decent day with areas of rain along with fairly warm sunshine, conditions are set to go somewhat downhill tonight as an area of low pressure moves up from the SW bringing one band of rain to the South and Southeast while another bands spreads across the North, drier in between. Tonight’s low will be mild at 12-16C.
Into Thursday and winds really pick up across the South up into the Midlands with gusts touching gale-force initially in the Southwest but as the lows tracks NE across the country, the core of strongest winds transfer east. The Channel coast could see gusts to 60+mph. The interior South may see gusts of 30-40 mph which may bring down tree branches. The worst of the rain will spread across Northern parts through the day with few showers across the South. Highs of 16-19C.
More rain for particularly western areas Friday with an increasing winds once again.
Wales
It’s a showery, breezy afternoon across Wales with the heaviest of the showers in the South and West. Highs of 16-18C.
Through tonight and rain ease for a time before another band of rain sweeps in from the Celtic Sea along with a strengthening SW wind.
Into Thursday and it’s a wet and very windy start with potential gales along the West and South coast with gusts to 50-60 mph on the coast, 30-40 mph inland. The bulk of the rain departs to the NE through the morning with showers following. The winds will ease somewhat through the afternoon but it stays breezy all the while. Highs down on today at 14-16C.
More rain along with gusty SW winds on Friday.
Northern Ireland
Following the sunshine and showers of today, this evening starts off drier but another band of heavy and persistent rain will advance north, covering much of the country overnight. With all the cloud and rain, temperatures should hold up at 10-13C.
Thursday shall start off wet, dull and breezy but like today, those overnight rains ease and sunshine should break through for all, with showers here and there. Highs a little cooler than today at 14-16C.
More rain and increasing SW winds on Friday.
Ireland
Following a wet night and shower day today, an area of very heavy rain will spread across the country tonight with strong to perhaps gale-force SW winds too. This rain shall be heavy and persistent for much of the night and so flooding may become a concern into tomorrow morning before it clears NE.
Friday will be an improving sort of day with heavy rains clearing out into the Irish Sea late morning into the afternoon with blustery showers following. Sunshine should also break out. Highs of 13-17C.
