MON 3 JUNE: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

High pressure builds in this week and today it’s been a mild to warm afternoon across the country with the best of the sunshine and temperatures in the East. Highs managed 21C in Edinburgh. Through tonight and the cloud breaks up and any showers across particularly the North should die away leaving a mostly clear, dry and mild night. Lows no lower than 9 or 12C.

Tuesday will be sunnier and warmer across a broad area of the country with little in the way of rain, although an odd isolated shower or thunderstorm may pop over the hills during the afternoon. Highs should range from 20 to 23, locally 24C.

Wednesday looks cloudier in the East due to a weather front nudging in from the NE but the West should remain mainly sunny and warmest with Glasgow pushing 21C, nearer 17C in Edinburgh, cooler along the coast. All areas should stay mainly dry.

England

Today has been a largely dry, settled and partially sunny day with mild temperatures too. The warmth and sunshine will increase through tomorrow and the rest of this week.

Tonight will see any cloud dissipate and with light winds, temperatures cool outwith towns and cities towards 5 or 6C but where it’s topped 19-21C today, all the warmth retaining pavements and roads will keep overnight temperatures up into double figures.

Tuesday is looking fine, dry and sunny as high pressure dominates. Always cooler, perhaps a little cloudier and misty along coastal areas but inland temperatures should hit 19-22C.

Wednesday looks cloudier in the East but it stays sunnier to the west of the Pennines. Highs range from 21C in the sunny West to a cooler 18C in the East.

Wales

It’s been a fine, dry and warm start to the workweek across Wales with mainly sunny skies and highs reaching 18-21C. Through tonight and skies clear out allowing a decent cooldown. Lows outwith the urban areas may dip towards 5 or 6C but cities such Cardiff is likely to hold in double figures.

Tuesday is looking sunny, warm and dry with highs warmer than today at 19 to 22C. Always cooler along the coast with a sea breeze developing into the afternoon as the land heats up.

Wednesday should be very similar to tomorrow with warm sunshine on offer. Highs 19-22C.

Northern Ireland

It’s been a day of sun and showers across Ulster but these showers quickly due out once the air cools and the convective dynamics are lost. A clear and cooler night ahead with lows outwith Newry, Balefast and Deery down in single figures with mist and fog possible.

Tuesday is looking quieter with more in the way of sunshine and warmer temperatures. Expect highs to push 20 or 21C in the warmest inland areas. Always cooler along the coast with an onshore breeze. Highs widely 17-19C.

Wednesday should be very similar to Tuesday with mainly sunny skies and highs of 17-21C.

Ireland

The week ahead is looking terrific with mainly sunny skies and plenty of warmth on offer. Tonight is looking clear and away from towns and cities expect lows down to 5 or 6C.

Tuesday should see plenty of blue skies and warm sunshine with highs ranging between 16 and 20, locally 21, maybe 22C.

Wednesday looks to be a repeat of Tuesday with plenty of warm sunshine and highs of 17-20C.
