rain460Scotland

It’s been a cold and damp Friday across much of Scotland although there have been breaks, particularly in the northeast but highs have been disappointing at 5-8C.

Tonight will remain cloudy and damp across Central and Southern parts while clearer skies to the North will allow a colder and frosty night. Lows range between 2-4C where cloud lingers but nearer -2 to -4C under clearer skies over the southern and central Highlands

Saturday will be a fairly cloudy day but there will be breaks here and there. Turning windy through the day from a southerly direction and that means warmer temps than of late despite cloud and rain at times. Highs of 9-12, locally 13C where sun breaks out.

On Sunday it’s a wet and very windy day but warmer still at 12-15C, may even feel a touch muggy thanks to the damp, warmer air.

England

It’s a fairly mild night to come with cloudy skies for many. Rain will spread up from the Channel overnight bringing a wet night from Plymouth to London. Lows dip no lower than 7C in parts of the South, nearer 2-3C in the North.

Through Saturday the rain band pushes north over Southern England while elsewhere, it’s a fine day albeit the winds will freshen. Those southerly winds will transport warmer air up from the Azores and so highs tomorrow range from 10-15, locally 16C.

On Sunday, thanks to a strong low to the west, southerly winds will touch gale-force over western parts and it’s here that we see the rain heavy and persistent at times, whereas it should be somewhat drier and brighter in the East. Highs range from 12-14C in the wind and rain, nearer to 20, maybe 21C in the sunnier east.

Wales

Tonight will stay fairly dry with light rural frost possible following today’s heavy, thundery showers but as we progress into Saturday, a band of rain spreads up from the south and should cover much of the country by afternoon.

Lows tonight will dip to between 0 and 4C. Highs tomorrow should rise towards a fairly mild 10-12C. Winds will become strong through the day.

Sunday will be wet and even windier than Saturday and as a result temps will be warmer at between 12-15C.

Northern Ireland

A fairly dry night with patchy frost will make way for a dry, bright morning but a band of rain will push up from the Republic and this will cover the country during the afternoon. This rain will be heavy and persistent for a time and accompanied by strong SSE winds. Milder air will accompany the wind and rain with highs of 9-12C.

Sunday will be wetter, windier but warmer at 13-15C.

Ireland

The first half of tonight should be dry and fairly clear with a touch of frost from the Midlands north but as the night wears on, so a band of fairly heavy and persistent rain spreads north and should bring a wet day across most areas. Winds will be fresh to strong out of the SE. Temps should warm to 10-13C tomorrow.

Wind and rain will affect most areas Sunday. Temps should also be warmer at 12-16C.
