The cold easterly flow is back thanks to low pressure down to the south, high pressure to the north, these winds have felt cold and have fed wintry showers into eastern areas while it’s stayed largely dry and sunny across the west. Through tonight it’s another clear, cold and frosty night with lows of 0 to -2C in towns/cities, -6C in sheltered areas, especially where there’s lying snow still.

Tomorrow will be a repeat of today with cloudier skies in the east along with the strongest breeze, pegging temps back at 4-6C, always sunnier in the west where highs reach nearer 8C, feeling much cooler in the wind though.

England

Tonight shall be a cloudy and increasingly beezy one across the south while it’s somehat clearer in the north. Where cloudy and breezy, lows go no lower than 4C, nearer 0C or slightly below under clearer skies. Wednesday morning will see the change as a shield of rain pushes into southwest and southern parts of England through the morning into the afternoon, accompanied by an increasing southerly wind. The bulk of England should stay dry for much of the day but into tomorrow evening and the rain poushes up through the Midlands and into the North.

Wales

Following another cold night to come across many parts of Wales, especially in the north under clear skies, a different weather map appears tomorrow as rain and wind finally return, initially to the south of the country but as the afternoon wears on into the evening, the band of rain along with strong winds will lift north, covering the country. Lows tonight 4C in the cloudier south, -2C in the clearer north. Highs tomorrow 7-11C.

Northern Ireland

Tonight will be a mainly cloudy one following a pleasant to but still cold day, especially where those easterly winds have been blowing strong but where some breaks form in the cloud expect a frost to form. Wednesday is looking largely fine, dry and bright with decent sunny spells. Winds should be lighter and therefore it should feel not too bad in that sunshine.

Cloud and rain holds back to the south till tomorrow night into Thursday morning, introducing milder air.

Ireland

A cloudy, slightly milder night to come across the Republic and tomorrow will see the arrival of a change in this cold, stuck pattern which has been dominant for weeks. A shield of rain will slowly spread north through tomorrow afternoon into the evening bringing stiff winds but milder air. Some of this rain could be heavy and winds fairly gusty also.
