Scotland
After one of the coldest March day’s in several years, tonight may see lows widely fall to between -4 to -8C beneath clear skies and with winds falling light. Some sheltered spots of particularly the Southern Uplands may see temps dip below -10, perhaps rivalling the -13C seen last night at Aboyne and Kinbrace.
Following the bitter start, Tuesday will be another abnormally cold March day with temps slowly recovering to a mere -1 to 3C in the cloudier east, slightly milder in the sunnier west, highs of 3-5C. Winds veer northerly with wind chills still below freezing.
Another very cold night to come Tues-Wed.

England
Heavy snow or snow showers, blown in on a brutal ENE wind has created a true winter-like day throughout England with temps barely making freezing and for many, only managing -1 to -3C, wind chills widely held at -3 to -10C today.
The South Coast has bore the brunt of the snow with a few inches accumulating. A further few inches are expected tonight as a system not far to the south continues to spread moisture north from the channel into the cold air in place.
Most of the snow concentrates across the SC and SE including London tonight while clearing skies further inland will result in a bitterly cold night with a widespread hard to severe frost with lows of -3 to -6C even in towns and cities, -8 to -12C in outlying areas.
A calmer day comes tomorrow with highs still very cold at -1 to +4C, less in the way of snow showers, except for the SC and SE. Winds turn more northerly but lighter. Another very cold night to come tomorrow night.
Wales
The cold of today gives way to a bitterly cold night with clear skies, lighter winds and some snow covered ground. Expect lows to widely plummet to -2 to -5C in towns and cities but rural areas could see as low as -8 to -10C tonight, very impressive for March.
Tuesday will be another very cold March day those not feeling quite as severe as today as winds lighten and turn northerly. The sun shall be out so despite the cold breeze, it’s a fine, dry and more settled day.
Another cold, frosty night to come Tues-Wed.
Northern Ireland
Following a bitterly cold day, certainly one of the coldest all season, tonight will see a widespread severe frost with the potential of seeing the lowest values yet across interior rural parts with -7 to -9C.
Another day of sun and cloud during Tuesday and slightly less cold at 2-5C but a light north wind will keep the chill going.
Another cold one tomorrow night.
Ireland
Today has been one of the coldest Ireland has seen all winter with most struggling to reach 0C, 1-3C widely. Beneath clear starry skies and lighter winds, expect one of, if not thee coldest night of the entire winter with the Midlands dipping to -7 or -8C. Very impressive for mid-March.
A bright and dry day comes Tuesday with an odd snow shower here and there, highs are slightly higher than today at 3-5C, slightly less wind more from a northerly direction.
