Scotland

High pressure remains firmly established over Scotland with a ‘capped’ atmosphere keeping most areas cloud-free. The dryness of this air is allowing large diurnal temp fluctuations (temp between night and day) with cold, frosty nights and very low readings esp over the Highlands but by day, temps quickly warm once the sun comes up to between 6-10C. Today saw a high of 13.3C despite it being well below freezing overnight. Thank the very calm, very dry air!. It’s a repeat on Wednesday with lows tonight -1/-2C in towns and cities, -5 to -10C in rural parts, highs 8C for many, 13, maybe 14C in the Highlands.[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)]

England

Unfortunately the heavy cloudcover continues right across England tonight and under this cloud, drizzle, mist and perhaps an odd fog patch may form. Temps beneath the cloud are opposite of Scotland, they are fluctuating very between between 3-4C at night to 4-6C by day. Wednesday may see more in the way of sunshine and so it may get up to 7C. The second half of the week looks brighter as the high builds south.

Wales

The cloudy, chilly theme continues across much of Wales but brighter skies are to be had in far western areas sheltered from the easterly breeze. Highs only 4-7C. Tonight is generally cloudy with mist or light drizzle, esp over higher ground. Lows are quite cool at 1-3C.

Tomorrow, like today is largely cloudy with the best of the brightness in the west. Tomorrow will turn colder but clearer with lows -1 to -4C. Brighter by Thursday.

Northern Ireland

Another lovely late winter’s day with sunniest skies peeling back towards more western and northern areas as cloud increases from the south. This sets the stage for a less cold night tonight under mainly cloudy skies, lows dip no lower than -1C, 1-3C for most.

Cloudier for your Wednesday, highs 5-7C, staying dry through the rest of the week.

Ireland

Cloud and clear spells with little rain or drizzle pretty much sums up Ireland’s weather these days. Where clear by night, temps dip to 0 or a little below, under cloud 1-3C and by day, it gets up to 8C in the sun, but holding nearer 5 or 6C under the cloud. The rest of this week is looking largely dry with sunnier skies across a broader area come Thursday as high pressure buyilds overhead.
