Scotland

A cold day with a cold breeze sets the stage for what will be a very cold night in store across Scotland. The current cloudcover for many is expected to clear and with light winds temps freefall towards -2 to -4C in urban areas while -5 to -10C readings are likely outwith the urban heat island.

Friday looks largely fine and dry with light winds but highs only manage to scrape 2-4C, it should remain below freezing all day in sheltered Highland Glens. Another very cold night to come tomorrow night.

England

It’s been a cold day across England especially where those winds have been blowing strong off the North Sea. Some snow showers have been reported along east and southeast coasts and this should continue through tonight. Strongest winds continue across southern parts with a brisk wind along the east coast too.

For inland parts, winds are lighter and beneath clear skies tonight, temps will widely drop to between 0 and -3C in towns and cities, closer to -6 or -7C in rural areas.

Another cold if not colder day to come tomorrow with highs barely making it to 2C, factor in even the slightest breeze and it feels closer to -3/-6C. Snow showers are possible across Kent, perhaps even reaching Greater London as winds are stronger.

Another cold one tomorrow night and a repeat performance Saturday.

Wales

It’s been a cold one today across Wales and things are about to get even colder with lows tonight dipping to between -2C in most towns and cities to a bitter -6, perhaps -7C in rural areas that are sheltered from the breeze. Despite the breeze though, temps will drop below freezing still, adding a significant windchills to that cold air temp.

Tomorrow will be colder than today with highs of near freezing to perhaps 2 or 3C at best. Be sure to wrap up warm over the next few days. Chance of flurries into the weekend.

Northern Ireland

Like across the UK mainland, NI will endure a very cold night beneath clear skies. Lows dip to 0 or below with rural parts dropping to -5C. A bright and sunny day to come Friday but you’ll want to wrap up as highs only manage 3 or 4C, feeling colder in the stiff east wind blowing in off the North Channel.

A repeat performance tomorrow night into Friday and through the weekend.

Ireland

The colder air is now settling into Ireland more with colder, frostier nights which are making way to colder days. A light to moderate breeze blowing in from the east will make tomorrow 3-5C feel nearer or slightly below freezing. Colder still tomorrow night with parts of the Midlands perhaps dipping to -5C.
