Scotland

Following a very wet and blustery day throughout across Scotland with flooding widespread flooding issues, conditions will improve through tonight as the front pushes out into the North Sea. Rain and showers will persist into the first half of tonight but should die away during the overnight. This sets the stage for clearing skies, lighter winds and falling temps, leaving a risk for ice in the morning. Temps may fall to near freezing outwith towns and cities and with all the wet ground, please be careful early tomorrow morning whilst driving or walking to school or work.

Friday is a much improved picture with brighter skies and lighter winds. Showers are likely on the westerly breeze but it’s much improved from today. Highs cool at around 7C.

England

While western parts of England begin to dry out and calm following a wild day of wet and windy weather, it’s eastern parts which have a rough first half of the night with the front still bringing very heavy rain with a chance of seeing further ‘convective lines’ which, luckily are narrow but will enhance the rains locally into torrential downpours, further increasing the risk of localised flooding. As well as the rain, winds will be blowing at gale-force with gusts of 50 to 60 mph, During the early part of this evening, the front should be situated generally from Brighton extending NE to Norfolk. To the east of here it’s going to be a wild first part of the night, but behind it and including a large portion of the country, it’s a far calmer and cooler story. Clear skies will develop widely and with light winds, frost and ice become tonight and tomorrow morning’s risk. Some rural areas may well dip to -1 or -2C tonight while towns and cities cool to around 1-3C, low enough for frost and ice too.

Tomorrow is a laregly bright or sunny day with light winds and NO RAIN, the remainder of today’s rain is be slow to clear East Anglia and Kent but it should be offshore by early afternoon. Highs tomorrow 6-8C.

Wales

Following an very rough day across Wales where 1-2 inches of rain fell widely and was blown in on gales or severe gales. The highest wind speeds in all of the UK today was recorded at Capel Curig in Snowdonia with a gust of 86 mph.

Conditions significantly improve tonight with rain clearing along with clouds and with winds easing, patchy frost and ice is possible by morning.

A MUCH better day in prospect tomorrow with the exception of some showers blowing in off the Irish Sea but there’s plenty of sunshine to be had and it should be a fine late November day. High 6-8C.

Northern Ireland

The worst of the wild weather was over early in the day for Northern Ireland and through this afternoon, heavy, blustery showers was the theme, feeling much cooler behind the front with highs of only 5-7C, feeling colder in the wind,

Tonight will see clear skies, a light breeze and a chance of frost and ice. Feeling cold with lows near 1-3C and a 5-10 mph wind.

Tomorrow, similarly to today should see plenty of bright or sunny spells but there’s always a risk of sharp showers which could produce hail or thunder. Highs similar to today at 5-7C.

Ireland

After a wild night of gales or severe gales and torrential, flooding rains, the majority of today has been an improving picture albeit, showers have been heavy and frequent. Feeling much cooler on the backside of the front at 6-8C.

Tonight clear and chilly with lows near freezing for many rural areas. Watch out for ice in the morning.

Tomorrow’s looking better than today with less showers and less heavy, more in the way of sunshine but still cool at 6-8C.
