>Yesterday’s daylong snowfall is the earliest ever in the city of Houston, it was just last year on Dec 11 that they recieved their earliest snowfall and now 2009 ironically beats that. Quite amazing.

Bitterly Cold Air Building in the WestPosted: 4-DEC-2009 2:53pm EST
While the snow is still being tallied in Texas and will soon get under way farther east in the South tonight, frigid air has a foothold on much of the Plains, Rockies and the Great Basin.
For many locations, this is the coldest air of the season so far over the interior West.
Here is a look at some of the low temperatures for the Rockies and Great Basin area Friday morning:
West Yellowstone, Mont.: -26 degrees
Big Piney, Wyo.: -18 degrees
Leadville, Colo.: -13 degrees
Stanley, Idaho: -12 degrees
Grants, N.M.: -11 degrees
Williston, N.D.: -10 degrees
Bryce Canyon, Utah: -8 degrees
Grand Canyon, Ariz.: -6 degrees The coastal areas of the Northwest will get a taste of Arctic Air this weekend. Temperatures in the coastal cities of Seattle, Wash. and Portland, Ore. may struggle to surpass the freezing mark for daytime highs.
The new invasion of cold air will set into motion powerful storms rolling in from the Pacific Ocean that may result in Rockies and Plains blizzards next week with near zero temperatures.
