>While Boston is knocking on the door of 70 degrees, Amarillo is only 28!

We are seeing a deep pool of cold now drop as far south as central Texas where 20s are the best they can manage right now and current readings are only into the lwo to mid teens across a large portion of the Northern Tier. I find it amazing that thanks to the deep cold pool centered from the Pacific Northwest to Chicago, we have a strong warm surge up the Eastern Seaboard which is supporting 60s all the way to Maine. Bangor is sitting presently at 62 degrees whilst Boston has warmed to a balmy 68 and 70 is not out of the question as stiff and warm south to southwest winds ride the trough-ridge axis.

MAJOR SNOW EVENT FROM HOUSTON TO HARTFORD (INCLUDING DC)?
We have seen snow fall in Dallas and it looks like a good potential we will see snow at least fall across metro Houston (Friday) with sticking snow very possible. Heavy amounts could fll over central Texas and a band of heavy snow is expected to ride up the Eastern Seaboard and include places such as Atlanta and Washington DC, perhaps more concentrated bands of 6-12 inches could be expected for the higher elevations of the Western Carolinas, N Ga, Va, WV and even places along the coastal plain but 10-20 miles away from the still warm Atlantic waters. The trough will push east as the low rides around the eastern fringe of the trough removing the balmy and record breaking December heat along the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coast. (More on the details hopefully tomorrow!)
Thanks for reading.
