A day which started fine with some thin high clouds and a cooler start to recent mornings thanks to a reduction in wind movement and thinning of cloud cover. The clouds soon thickened, winds freshened out of the southwest and by around 6am sprinkles turned to showers and finally a large-scale band of heavy rain and blustery conditions took center stage to what was a very wet day.
