>It was 35 degrees this morning at 7.20am under clear skies and light winds with even a slight frosting on car windshields around 6.30am. By 1.56pm it went only to 44 degrees with patchy clouds by mostly sunmy throughout the morning hours. After noon, skies began clouding over with eventual intermittent shower activity mid-afternoon.
Then by around 4pm the rain arrived beneath a thick deck of clouds and has become heavy…
Now as winds are beginning to pick up out of a southwest direction (tropical maritime origin), the air is getting moved from that region to here and therefore our warmest daytime temperature is still going up and now is knocking at the door of 50 degrees. Yes around dinnertime tonight it was in the low to at best mid-40s!
It’s turning ugly out there and I expect it to go down hill throughout the overnight hours. We may have temps when I get up around 2.15am tomorrow of mid-50s with a stiff southwest wind blowing at 20-30mph accompanied by heavy, winddriven rains which will cause flooding and treacherous surface water and spray on roads.
On the coast or over high ground, I expect gales tonight, through tomorrow with gusts over 60-70 mph with the occational gusts past 80 mph down across the Lake District, Wales and Midlands of England…
I shall TRY and update while I eat breakfast in the morning, but, saying that I may hear the rain and wind battering off the window and may lie as long as I can in a warm, cosy bed!!
Thanks for reading.
