Not much write up required here. Quite the rollercoaster this week with taste of summer Monday-Tuesday but winter makes a return by Good Friday.
You can see in the below GFS ensemble 5-day mean 500mb pattern the dramatic shift in the blocking high between day 1-5 and 6-10 with retreat from Europe to Greenland.

Same areas which saw 20s Tuesday, sees only 8C Good Friday!
No let up day 11-15, in fact the chill looks stronger than the previous 5 days which is impressive to see the model showing this this far out.

Cold is no stranger to April but it’s going to be interesting to see whether this is a run of the mill ‘nagging chill’ or something more.

Like the GFS ensemble, the CFSv2 weeklies sees the warmth week 1 then cold week 2 but flips back warm week 3. Will be interesting to see how strong and long lasting the impending cold pattern will be.
