Following a LONG winter for Newfoundland and Labrador, Wabush in western Labrador went straight to a mid summer-like 27.9C on May 31. It was a dramatic way to see it’s first 20s of the year.

HOWEVER, talk about one step forward and two back… amazingly, in the wake of a ‘snowy’ low pressure system, June opened opposite to where May finished as snow returned and this was followed by a new June record low in Wabush of -6.9C yesterday morning. This beats the previous June minimum of -5.1C set in 1992.
