We’ve a highly amplified pattern to end April over Europe with deep trough drilling south supporting snow in Spain while a downstream upper ridge is pumping summer heat into Italy, Balkans, Greece and Turkey. Two new national records have been set in the Balkans.
The pool of unusual cool with deep surface low tracking north could present a record cold final day of April from Spain to eastern England. Daytime highs tomorrow could be 5-10, locally 12C below normal. Within the deepening low set to be positioning over the Dover Straits tonight could supress temperatures to between 4-7C widely in the strong to gale force ENE winds and persistent rain tomorrow. As for areas beneath the influence of high pressure and SSW winds, temps will be 5-10C above normal.
