It’s been a challenging past 36 hours for Scotland, Northern Ireland and higher parts of N England and Wales with persistent heavy snow showers and gale-force wind rattling in off the Atlantic.

The build up of snow has laid to issues on the road network with worst area being South Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway where people have been stranded on the M74 overnight.

AMBER snow warning in effect for 2nd straight night
The worst of the snowfall may in fact arrive tonight as a deepening low is set to cross Ireland and southern Scotland with heavy windblown snow on it’s northern flank while severe gales and heavy rain affects much of England and Wales.
