Minneapolis topped a record 57 degrees yesterday and bottomed out at 16 this morning. With the aid of fresh snow, albeit thin, temps are unlikely to get out of the 20s through the next few days with nights dipping into the teens, perhaps upper singles.

This appears to be the first in a series of cold waves to dive south this month thanks to a -AO/NAO and displaced polar vortex. Next week could see colder and the following week colder still.
Certainly the CFSv2 weeklies have a chilly month in the East but warm West.
