Torrential rains associated with a cut off low over the central Med Sea has produced devastating flash floods to parts of Greece and with this very feature expected to become a warm core medicane in the same area late this week, more devastating floods is expected.

The setup is such that a low to mid level cut off low is strengthening underneath a higher pressure field, indicative of ‘tropical development’ and formation of a warm core closed circulation.

Expect an additional 2-400mm of rain over the Central Med, southern Italy and Balkans over the next 48 hours.
