All signs point to the end of an historic June 2017 Southwest heatwave but records continue to fall. Death Valley, CA yet again hit a record Sunday with 125 degrees following a record 127 the previous day. Death Valley has exceeded 120 degrees on 9 straight days and exceeded 125 degrees on 3 straight days. Record for number of consecutive days exceeding 125 degrees is 10!

Of course Las Vegas, NV tied the all-time record of 117 degrees while Needles, CA tied their record of 125 degrees, said to have touched 126 for a few minutes but not the 5 minutes considered official.

As for Palm Spring’s in California’s toasty Coachella Valley, the thermometer appears to like stopping at 122 degrees. It hit that yesterday for a second consecutive day and 3rd tie of the all-time June record.
