Brest and Nantes amoung the cities in WNW France which set new monthly record highs.


A couple of days previous, parts of Portugal including Porto and southern Spain’s Andalucia province surpassed May records.
Here in Scotland, the thermometer only just failed to reach to magic 30C mark with Lossiemouth on the Moray Coast reaching 29.4C.

According to Sean Batty, Scotland has only exceeded 28C 6 times since 1981 but only reached the 30C ONCE since 1959.
Each nation recorded their warmest day of the year yesterday.

Today sees the thundery breakdown over Ireland, Northern Ireland, SW, W parts of the UK but eastern and northern parts remain largely hot and sunny with a shot at 30C anywhere from London to Lossiemouth.
