With low pressure giving way to high pressure out over the North Atlantic near Iceland, the flood gates open up from New Years Day right the way through next week to an increasingly cold and snowy for Europe.
The cold pool spreads through next week as UK to Scandinavia lows track SSE spreading fresh snow with them. Blizzard conditions are likely as the GFS sees a major storm tracking out of the Baltic Sea next week. An impressive wintry open to 2017!
Where Icelandic low pressure is today, high pressure shall be by Sunday! Bye bye Atlantic, hello arctic!

As of now, the UK’s best snow chances are around New Years day as an arctic front sweeps south (mainly Highland Scotland) and next weekend. In between it’s quiet but increasingly chilly.
