NOAA Says La Nina Is Here, Not Good News For California & Southeast This Winter

According to a recent press release from NOAA, La Nina is officially here.

This is NOT good news for a parched California/Southwest and Southern United States.

The reason is of course that La Nina’s tend to favour drier than normal conditions from Central/Southern California to Carolinas.

This unfortunately encompasses both ‘extreme drought’ areas and so significant drought relief during the upcoming winter is unlikely.

Interestingly the CFSv2 monthlies isn’t all bad. Note it’s got a wet December, not so bad January and somewhat drier February. We shall see…
