Heat & Storms Continue To Dominate East, Central Europe

While temperatures continue to soar into the upper 30s and low 40s across Greece and Turkey northward, fronts continue to spread across Ireland and the UK but there’s plenty of dry, comfortable weather in between.

There’s a system which develops late week and lifts up through the English Channel. This will draw increasingly muggy air out of France into the Southern UK, Low Countries and Germany presenting another round of drenching thunderstorms. To the east the low to mid 30C air over the Ukraine backs west into Poland and comes to a halt over eastern Germany. Warm muggy air west vs hot air to the east will attract a battle in which powerful thunderstorms are likely to blow up over the Alps and Germany.

The UK gets warmer and muggier but the hot air never reaches the UK and more systems pile in from the Atlantic.

GFS 2m high temps show the westward progression of heat but it never quite reaches the British Isles.
