An epic trip to bring in my 10th and friend and climbing partner, Petr’s 163rd munro and 17th in the last 30 days. In short, up at 10pm Saturday June 4th, met Petr at his house at 11.15pm and departed Cumbernauld at 11.30pm for the near 5 hour, 239 mile overnight drive to the Northwest Highlands and specifically the beautiful settlement of Inchnadamph, Sutherland in Scotland’s Far North.

We chose this far away, remote region because of the combination of excellent weather forecast and spectacular scenery.

Good Morning Sutherland and the top of Scotland, it’s 4.30am, breezy and feeling cold with combination of +7C air and tiredness from spending the night in the car!

We were greeted by a stunning morning.

Having scaled the two summits under a hot sun, we’re relieved to be nearing the end. Legs soar, cut knee and feeling warm and tired. Nice view of a towering Conival in the background.
