After a few weeks of northerly high pressure domination with Spanish weather over Scotland and Scottish weather down in Spain, we’re about to turn this upper pattern on it’s head reverting to a more typical setup.

The past 7 and 14 days has sure been summer-like away from the UK East Coast as well as the Low Countries, Denmark, Germany and Scandinavia. The wet weather is certainly reflective on the temperature over France.

With Tropical Storm Colin pushing tropical energy across the Atlantic, this system will aid in the major pattern flip over Europe with a stronger zonal Atlantic jet stream making a comeback.

Atlantic fronts are lining up!

Fronts attached to lows positioned near Iceland or UK lowers the warmth over Ireland and UK but lifts it over Spain and Portugal.

Yesterday was the hottest day so far this year in Spain.

Today is likely to be the first 40C.

You know it’s full summer down in Spain when the South wakens to 24C and highs are expected to top 40C.

Heat warnings are up.

Today and tomorrow are the last two warm days before the first front moves in Friday.

Next front arrives Sunday and low pressure holds over UK through much of next week.

The trough with it’s cooler, more unsettled weather is coming.
