The core of cold shivered eastern Canada this morning with the coldest temperatures in Toronto in 22 years.

Projected 2m temps this morning were still frigid but not quite frigid enough according to the models.

Note the ECMWF had Toronto at -20C or milder but as a matter of fact it dipped to -26C, coldest since January 1994 when the thermometer dipped to -31C.

That very core of cold is descending south.

NYC is already into single digits early this evening.
