This weekend could see the coldest temperatures not just of winter but in years for Boston and other parts of New England and Northeast.

Down comes a piece of the ‘polar vortex’.

Interestingly this weekend’s arctic blast hits in the midst of New England’s warmest winter in history.

February opened record mild too with a strong of 50s during the month’s opening week.

According to Dave Epstein , if Boston drops to -4 or colder Sunday morning, this would be the city’s first February record low in 49 years.
