As of 11.30am the rain has become steady here in Cumbernauld as the first of many fronts push west to east across the UK. It’s a cold rain today following a frosty start but it’s on the backside of the front where southerly winds increase and therefore warmer air takes over once again. We’re back in the milder regime proper by tomorrow with double digit highs for most.

Rain falling on wet and frozen ground means the flood threat will come roaring back this weekend and beyond.

While warming in West it remains cold in the East but that weakens day 5-10.

The strat warming remains eye catching! Definitely a positive indicator of a colder February.

Because there’s a lot of water in the soil and it’s now frozen, this rain could be problematic with further flooding issues as we end January.
