Blizzard Warning Up For Washington DC

Written by on January 21, 2016 in United States of America, Winter 2015/16 with 0 Comments

A blizzard warning is now up for the DC area while watches are in place throughout the surrounding area including Baltimore and Philly. No real change in the forecast. I still believe the biggest snow totals (12-24″) out of the Major Cities is DC while 10-20″ focuses in Baltimore and Philadelphia and 6-12″ for New York City.

The potential ‘bombing out’ off the Delmarva is likely to intensify push of onshore precip on the northern flank as well as strengthen wind gusts to gale-force widely from Hattaras to Maine, possibly hurricane-force along the Delmarva.

Gale-force winds will penetrate inland, forcing the expected blizzard conditions while gusts to hurricane force are possible too.

Watching the warm up which follows this snowstorm. Yes it will melt a lot of the snow, increasing flood potential.
