I’ve been out digging in my garden this afternoon and into the evening (extending my driveway) and feeling rather tired so tonight’s write-up will be short I’m afraid.
As snow clears and a cold sunshine returns to Iowa, it also looks like the snow is tapering off in Chicago.

With at least 11.2 inches, it would seem the Windy City has witnessed it’s second biggest November snowstorm in history.
Century-old November Chicago storm snowfall record poised to fall
Update 4PM CST…
Snow has all but ended at O’Hare and Midway with the snow plume quickly rotating off to the southeast. There still could be a little more light snow or flurries, but it looks like the storm total will be close to the current 11.2-inches – this storm will end up in second place behind the still standing 12.0-inches set back on November 25-26, 1895. Yesterday’s 4.2-inches broke the previous 2.8-inch record for November 20 set in 1996. Today’s total of 7.0-inches broke the old November 21st record of 3.0-inches established back in 1893.
At Midway the storm total was 5.8-inches and today’s 4.5-inches broke the old November 21st record 1.2-inches at that location set in 1996.
Here’s the current view late this afternoon from Chicago.
