Next Week: Great Time To Take A UK Touring Holiday!

High pressure has been talked about all week but because of this highly amplified, blocky pattern at the moment, the high and low over Denmark has been slow to moves east, therefore we’ve held onto that naggy northerly flow and frequent shower pattern longer.

The good news is that we see a little more west-east movement through the next 36 hours as the core of the high builds over top of the UK. This very system brings a cool weekend but by the end of next week, the very same system could bring us low to mid-20s rather than mid-teens. It’s all in the position of the high. When to the west, winds blow out of the north and when to the east they blow out of the south providing two very different feels.

When directly overhead like it will be Sunday-Monday, expect 1-2C up on today as winds fall lighter but nights may turn chillier as clear skies and lighter wind means more heat realise by night. Some rural spots Sun and Monday morning could get close to freezing. This fresher air mass continues to spread east and south. Even Paris, Berlin and as far east as Warsaw where it’s been baking, temps by day will struggle to reach 18C after soaring into the 30s earlier in the week.

Here’s the highs for today with the ridge to our west.
