The pattern remains highly transient and while there’s currently a Plains ridge with 90/100 degree heat, there’s a refreshing trough over the Northeast, expect the opposite later next week. The 594 boiler plate ridge now over Texas which is pushing the first 100 degree day for Dallas shifts WESTWARD into the Southwest later next week but before we get there, the heat in the Central US moves EASTWARD allowing it to warm back up over the Northeast but with the trough diving into the East and then lifting out over the next 5 days, we must watch for what may be left behind.

The latest ECMWF 500mb height anomalies show the continues movement in the upper pattern from heat to cool back to heat… Note the negative over Florida and along the SE coast while heights rebuild over top.

The ECMWF surface shows the development of a tropical system, initially over Florida but with waters in the mid to upper 80s, well it wouldn’t take much…
