Severe Cold Threatens All-Time Record Lows While ANOTHER Snowstorm Brews!

This morning marked day two of this exceptionally cold period in which many communities woke to subzero lows. It’s rare to see such vast coverage of real estate in this severity of cold. 25-35 below normal. So cold that Lynchburg, VA set a NEW all-time record low.

Yesterday, for some, was one of the coldest ever February days.

The reluctance for daytime warming set up a near perfect atmosphere for what would be a brutally cold night under the right conditions. A very cold, very dry air mass over fresh snow cover.

It was another particularly cold start over the rolling snow fields of Kentucky.

According to the Louisville NWS, it got down to -32 in Richmond, Madison County.
