2nd Frigid January In A Row For Lower 48

The arctic high descending south over the US now may break high pressure records as well as cold in the coming 2-3 days.

It may be cold now across the Plains, Midwest and East, especially with the howling NNW wind but it’s later today and tonight as high pressure core moves in, that winds drop and so will the temp, big time!

With yesterday’s clipper providing a blanket of reflective snow cover (albeit thin in areas), it’s going to be interesting to see how low the temps go through tonight, especially in the Big Cities from DC up to Boston.

Arctic high is drilling the cold in today but tonight, the air mass is in place!
