While colder air continues to progress WSW over Europe, the UK and Ireland remained locked out of that pattern with the still dominant Atlantic flow. The unsettled theme gathers steam later this week as a deeper low tracks east between Scotland and Iceland. It’s potent front will bring not only a spell of heavy rain but also strong, gusty winds to all parts with severe gales expected in the Northwest.

Behind that Friday system, more sunshine, showers and a brisk west wind. The weekend looks to turn cooler once that system’s cold front passes with air flowing from a cold US reaching the UK. Don’t be surprised to see some sleet and snow making it to lower levels Sunday into Monday.
Another deep low passes during next week and it’s once that front passes, the models suggests a much colder northwest feed into the UK, then a turn to NORTHEAST winds as heights build to the north during the second half of next week. Still a long way out but let’s watch this upcoming 10 days carefully.
Here’s the ECMWF setup through the next 10 days.
