As we can all see, the true cold over the next several days will be centred from California to Colorado where there will be snow and below normal temperatures, this setup should help boost snow at ski areas. As for the East, it’s not been all that cold but given the recent runs of the ECMWF, it looks like we have a few oppertunities for some inland Northeast snows next week and maybe a more widespread snow event in the days leading to Christmas.

Note the 540 line over the Delmarva next Wednesday, while it’s rain for the big cities, would be looking for snow over the interior mountains possibly with this.
If that upper pattern sets up the day before Christmas Eve according to the ECM in the below chart, then I think there’s a better chance at seeing a decent cold shot all the way to the Southeast and some more widespread snows.
