High Pressure Dominates Europe Next Week

An upper level ridge is set to expand across most of continental Europe next week supporting mild temperatures and settled weather with sunny days and misty, foggy and chilly nights. Daytime highs may range from 5-10C above seasonal averages.

Both ECMWF and GFS show upper as well as surface high pressure, so cloud should be minimal across a broad area, however dense fog may become an issue, especially at night and as next week progresses. This ridge is currently over the east and will build west throughout next week.

As for the UK, a period of more settled weather is possible, particularly across southern areas, however, the boundary separating high pressure from low pressure means a possibility for some heavy and persistent rainfall. across northern and central areas.
