High 39 degrees Low 27 degrees
SNOW/RAIN: Overnight snow showers.
Snowcover: 1″
An overnight with steadily rising temperatures and snow showers blown in on a stiff northeast wind which once again whitened bare ground. At 8.40am it was 32 and by 11am it was 37 degrees which is the warmest reading since a high of 40 back on Dec 17. Between Dec 17-Jan 9 the warmest has been 36 degrees. The thermometer continued rising as strong winds rattled north and east exposure windows, making it feel colder. The high of 39 degrees felt balmy, even warm enough to shed your heavy coat off had it not been for the windchill, plenty of dripping off gutters and lots of ice melt today, the first signs of a tired pattern? Even a shrinking of snowcover. A day dominated by cloudy and sunny intervals. Tonight breezy with lows down to around 30-32 by morning. Tomorrow highs once again likely to hit the mid to upper-30s.
DISCUSSION TOMORROW: A Milder period ahead as Atlantic fights the Arctic but Arctic will simply reload and drop into the same upper atmospheric pattern that’s been in control since mid-December. A taste of my February ideas also.

>The snow pack in the Kingdom of Fife has almost disintegrated as the temperature has held at 5 degress C all day.
A little bit of sleet characterises the evening.
