>With the focus of the news these days across the devastated W. Pacific, I wish the rescuers well and my heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones in yet another global disaster.

The UK after cool, crisper days is under the gun of a strong low that’s spinning over the northern UK and is expected to swipe us tonight with gale force winds and with some exposed coasts and higher elevated areas that will experience severe gales. The first of the autumn..

As for the USA, we are have seen a crisp morning across central PA where lows hit 32 degrees and frost was witnessed. As for the American West, the cold is growing deeper as yesterday morning saw a low at the high elevated station of Bodie, California of 5 degrees! Ely, Nevada hit 14 with a wind chill down to 4. A great example of how sunshine and dry air can spike a temperature… The low of 14 at Ely went to a high of 54…

Across Utah, Wyoming and Idaho, early seasons snows broke out bringing 11 inches to Alta, UT and another location in Wyoming topped 23 inches.
