The West Pacific has finally woken up with the support of a strong phase 5 MJO. 1 system has already driven west into China (brought eastern US ridge/warmth), now we’ve Lan which is projected to become a super typhoon.

Rather than heading west, Lan is projected to take the northward ‘recurve’ track towards Japan.

The recurving typhoon coupled with the current MJO perfectly reflects a cool Eastern US within the 6-10.

Check out the reverse in the East in response to the recurve of Lan, perfect!
